You’re probably thinking, ‘Who is this guy that is asking for my vote?’ Well, that’s understandable. You should be as informed as possible whenever you elect someone for public office. I’m going to do my best to introduce myself…

Oh, wait… you were probably expecting something else. Okay…
My wife and I both grew up in small SE Kansas towns. We were married right after high school and attended Allen County Community College Two years later we decided to leave our small town roots, in search of education, experience, and enlightenment in the “big city.” We have lived in the Kansas City metro area for more than 10 years. My wife and I both completed 4 years at the University of Kansas. My wife graduate with a Bachelors Degree in Music Education and completed her student teaching in the Blue Valley School District. We moved to Edwardsville in May of 2004. We like the small-town feel and the convenience of being so close to Kansas City.
I’m a somewhat unique candidate in that not only do I have children at 3 different levels in their education; early childhood, elementary school, and middle school, but 2 of our children also currently receive special education services and in 2 very different areas of special education. Our oldest daughter has had an IEP and has been receiving gifted education services for the past 6 years. Our youngest daughter Lyra was born with a genetic condition called albinism which resulted in her being visually impaired. All individuals with albinism are visually impaired to varying degrees and many are legally blind. When Lyra was 5 months old she began receiving early intervention services from a Teacher of the Visually Impaired and an Occupational Therapist through Wyandotte County Infant-Toddler Services.
*I will continue to update this section as much as necessary.
I sincerely and humbly ask that you elect me to represent your values on the USD 204 school board. Please vote on April 7, 2009.
Thank you,
